Botulinum Toxin | Botox

A real lunchtime anti-ageing treatment!

The most commonly requested non-surgical procedure in my practice

Most individuals interested in cosmetic surgery or aesthetic medicine today have heard of Botulinum toxin. Similarly many of the patients in my practice would benefit from this treatments ability to temporarily minimize the visibility of wrinkles.

Dr Chris Snijman treats patients using botulinum toxin as a stand along anti-aging treatment but he also combines the treatment with other aesthetic indications including dermal fillers and in some cases to aid in achieving a result for cosmetic surges including facelift surgery or blepharoplasty surgery.

Of course Dr Chris Snijman uses Botulinum toxin (Botox) in isolation too for those wanting to avoid surgery. All you need to do is set up a consultation for Dr Chris Snijman and discuss your aesthetic wants and desires and he will recommend the safest option for you.

What is Botulinum toxin?

If the muscle cannot form the wrinkle, then wrinkle ceases to exist

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a muscle inhibitor; it causes temporary paralysis in the muscle into which it is injected. A winkle is caused by over active muscles – so if you stop the muscle movement, you decrease the wrinkle. If the muscle cannot form the wrinkle, then wrinkle ceases to exist – at least until the Botox wears off and you will need to return for another treatment.

What happens during a Botox procedure?

A real lunchtime anti-ageing treatment!

Based on your wrinkles, a predetermined amount of Botulinum toxin (Botox) will be injected into various muscles to reduce the wrinkles. During the injection you will feel a mild stinging, but this is simply the solution going in.

That’s it! A consultation usually lasts 30 minutes for a first time patient but can be as quick as 10 – 15 minutes for a returning patient. A real lunchtime anti-ageing treatment!

How long does a Botulinum toxin (Botox) treatment last?

It will take a few days post treatment for the final result to reveal itself. The indication suggests that results may vary but in my practice most patients see results lasting between 4 & 5 months*.  Just as it acts, it will take a few days to notice the movement of the muscle again and the returning wrinkle.

What can Botulinum toxin (Botox) treat?

  • Glabellar lines
  • Crows feet
