Brow Lift | Forehead Lift

Treat horizontal lines on the forehead & related creases on the bridge of the nose

Awaken your face by treating horizontal lines and related creases.

Self-conscious of an aged forehead? This popular surgery might be an option for you.

For lack of a better explanation, a Browlift (forehead lift) surgery is a facelift for only your forehead. The purpose is to improve the horizontal lines on the forehead and/or treat related creases on the bridge of the nose between the eyes.

If you are self-conscious of an aged forehead or deep wrinkles on your forehead then this popular surgery might be an option for you.

How is Browlift surgery performed?

A Browlift is a surgical procedure to:

  • Raise the eyebrows to a more alert appearance
  • Minimize creases that develop across the forehead, or high on the bridge of the nose
  • Improve “frown lines”
  • Reposition a low or sagging brow

The surgery involves one continuous cut beginning at the level of your ears and going up around your hairline. Dr Chris Snijman will hide the scars within the hairline. The surgery is performed in theatre under general anaesthetic and it should take Dr Chris Snijman approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Am I a good candidate for Browlift?

It is important to understand the difference between a good candidate and a person presenting with a “brooding” brow. During the consultation Dr Chris Snijman will have you make a few faces to establish if you are indeed a suitable candidate.

Most suitable patients begin at the age of 40 years and present with excessive forehead lines and a ptosis (sagging) in the brow area.

What is the recovery like?

Immediately after the surgery you can expect some swelling and pain, but oral painkillers will limit your discomfort. Dr Chris Snijman advises that you have someone to help you with your daily chores for a few days post op.

Most patients take one week off from the office, and Dr Chris Snijman will stress no heavy lifting or physical exercise for 4 weeks post-surgery.

Combination procedures

As Browlift surgery is performed to reduce visible age on the face, it is often combined with similar surgeries to complete your face “awakening”. In many cases patients opt to undergo Browlift surgery in conjunction with:

  • Facelift surgery
  • Blepharoplasty (Eyelid) surgery
  • Glycolic facial peels
  • Micro-dermabrasion

Are there alternatives?

Yes, in some cases Browlift surgery is unavoidable but in many cases Dr Chris Snijman will use Aesthetic Medicine to try avoid going under the knife, or at least give you some idea of the expected facelift result.
