The removal of male breasts

Gynaecomastea can affect boys and men of all ages

Gynaecomastea is the over development of the male breast. There are numerous reasons for the development of male breasts but reasons aside, in my practice I have encountered men that often feel self-conscious and withdrawn due to the condition.

Gynaecomastea can affect boys and men of all ages but we perform the removal of male breast surgery only on adolescent and adult males. It is important to have your Gynaecomastea evaluated as there may be some overloooked medical conditions that may cause its development:

  • Overactive thyroid
  • Liver or lung cancer
  • Steroid abuse
  • Some medications

What is Gynaecomastea/Male Breast surgery?

Gynaecomastea surgery is the removal of male breasts. In some cases liposuction to the male breast is required, but in most cases full breast tissue excision is needed.

When excision surgery is required Dr Chris Snijman will be able to:

The scars are hidden in the natural contours.

  • Remove excess skin and tissue
  • Resize the nipple
  • Provide you with a masculine contour to the chest*

What is the recovery like?

Post Gynaecomastea surgery you can expect some swelling, bruising and pain in the area for a few days. Dr Chris Snijman will prescribe oral pain medication to keep you comfortable.
You will be able to see results after the swelling subsides. In my practice I have found that the final result will be visible at approximately four months*.

Combination procedures

In most cases Gynaecomastea surgery is done as a stand-alone surgery.
