Liposuction | Body Contouring

Body shaping to combat that unwanted fat.

Sculpture & body shaping that help you work towards the body you’ve always dreamed of.

I often see patients that want to lose that little belly or have their hips reshaped. That is why Liposuction is such a popular cosmetic procedure in my practice, with such a high satisfaction rate*.

What is Liposuction Surgery?

Liposuction surgery is not a weight loss surgery!

We all know the principle of Liposuction surgery – suction of unwanted and excess fat from specific areas of the body. Simple!

It is that simple in that regard-yes, but you must remember that Liposuction surgery is not a weight loss surgery but rather a procedure to reduce stubborn fat that you can’t seem to shake despite diet and exercise. In fact, you should be close to your ideal body weight to be a good candidate for Liposuction Surgery.

Combination Surgery

Liposuction is a relatively quick procedure (depending on the area to be treated) and the results are visible and significant*. Due to the short nature, many surgeons recommend Liposuction Surgery alongside other surgeries like Tummy Tuck Surgery or Breast Augmentation Surgery.

How is the surgery performed?

Liposuction is performed under general anaesthetic

Being invasive, Liposuction is performed under general anaesthetic.

Your fat is removed via a small hole and through a cannula. The removed fat is then disposed of – unless you are also undergoing a Fat Fill procedure.

Once finished one simple stitch will close the cannula entry points.

How long is the recovery?

The most significant drawback of Liposuction surgery is the long recovery period. Of course you will be sore for a few days post-surgery, but due to swelling and bruising the final result may only be visible up to 6 weeks later*.

What is the recovery like?

In most cases you will be able to return home immediately after the Liposuction Surgery*. You will be required to wear a compression garment for a minimum of 4 weeks or so to assist in the final aesthetic result. During this initial recovery period you will be asked not to do any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise.

Dr Chris Snijman will discuss all the possible risks and complications during the consultation process and he will give you detailed information on how to obtain the best post-surgical aesthetic result.
